Job Description

Job Summary
Responsible for research and tasks associated with improving students’ career readiness in machining and manufacturing. Supporting applied technology development and adoption of manufacturing technologies by regional manufacturers. Collects and analyzes data, in collaboration with employers and Cleveland State University (CSU) stakeholders, to be used in publications. Responsible for the daily operations of the Center and for leading student workers in support of the Center’s mission. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree, preferably in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, engineering technology, industrial engineering, materials science, or related STEM field.
Four (4) years of experience in a manufacturing, CNC machining, automation, robotics, manufacturing engineering, applied research, or a closely related field.
Certified as a machining trainer by America’s Cutting Edge (ACE) Training.
FANUC Robotics certification.
Leadership experience in area of discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D., preferably in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, mechatronics, robotics, advanced manufacturing, or a related field.
Experience with applied research, data analysis, and technical reporting.
Experience conducting applied research and development in an academic or industrial setting.
Experience developing and delivering hands-on technical training in machining, manufacturing, robotics, or automation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of best practices in experimental design, gathering data, and statistical analysis.
Knowledge of manufacturing and machining best practices, with a focus on training and workplace safety.
Ability to work with both internal and external stakeholders and translate findings and concepts to fit their audience.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and decision-making abilities.
Ability to effectively engage with team members when issues arise to ensure appropriate communication and develop effective resolution plans.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
