Summary
The Department of Anesthesiology is recruiting for a faculty Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) at Texas Children's Hospital, N. Austin Campuses, to administer anesthesia to pediatric patients. Under direct supervision of a supervising Anesthesiologist, CAAs assist in preoperative anesthetic evaluation, intraoperative anesthesia and postoperative anesthesia care of patients.

Job Duties
- Administers anesthesia under the medical direction of a supervising Anesthesiologist.
- Establishes a comprehensive patient preoperative assessment to assist in anesthetic planning. Orders appropriate preoperative evaluations, laboratory studies and pre-medications after consultation with the anesthesiologist.
- Initiates multi-parameter monitoring prior to surgery or in other acute care settings. Accurately manipulates and interprets data from central venous, pulmonary artery, cerebrospinal fluid catheters and other monitors or devices that are indicated.
- Assists in the post-operative management of patients. Manages postoperative ventilator support and acute pain management in conjunction with existing protocols.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Required: Master's degree from an accredited Anesthesiology Assistant Program by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Note: Bachelor's degree in Anesthesiology Assistant acceptedfor those certified prior to 1998.
- Experience: None required.
- Certification/Licenses/Registration Required:National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
