Job Description

Summary

The primary purpose of the Laboratory Technician I is to carry out various supervised duties as it relates to laboratory support in the Fu lab, which is interested in using the visual system to study angiogenesis, cholesterol metabolism, inflammation, and the biological mechanisms underlying various types of neurodegenerations and to develop innovative treatment strategies.

Job Duties

  • Clean laboratory equipment, instruments and areas such as the autoclave, glassware.
  • Prepare standard solutions and simple culture media.
  • Assist in basic laboratory research, including cell culture and treatment, gene expression and protein assays.
  • Plan, direct, and conduct supervised research experiments.
  • Document results of experiments and report to principal investigator during lab meetings.
  • Oversee the maintenance of lab equipment, ordering, and the general lab environment.
  • Learn and become familiar with lab activities, maintenance and assisting as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate enrolled in biology, genetics, or related science classes
