Job Description
Summary
Assists in maximizing the revenue for a Baylor College of Medicine department by completely capturing and accurately documenting physician, professional, and departmental charges to ensure submission of clean insurance claims, as well as accurate patient statements. Assists with physician office account collections activities.
Job Duties
- Prepares patient charging information in compliance with national standards and other medical agency guidelines.
- Accurately abstracts from operative reports, medical records, and physician's daily activity logs.
- Reviews and resolves all charges prior to submission.
- Captures all departmental billing via established reconciliation processes.
- Participates in physician education regarding coding and billing topics.
- Assigns ICD-10 CMand CPT codes to charge documents.
- Reviews Epic and Optum Claims manager edits for coding corrections.
- Batch charge documents.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- No experience required.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Certification must be obtained within one year of hire or promotion.
