Summary
The Translational Imaging Group (TIGr) in the Department of Radiology at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated candidate with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. The candidate will lead and/or contribute to numerous preclinical research projects focused on the development of novel molecular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based techniques for early detection, disease phenotyping and monitoring treatment outcomes in a variety of disease settings including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases and placental pathologies.
Job Duties
- Works on projects under the direction of principal investigator (PI).
- Helps by setting research directions on a daily basis within projects.
- Performs experiments, data analysis and reporting.
- Reports data and progress at weekly meetings with PI and research group.
- Prepares presentations for national and international meetings.
- Prepares manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
- Provides support for fundraising efforts.
- Designs studies and performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) experiments in living rodent models to complete the work proposed in funded grants (CPRIT, NIH, other grants).
- Develops and optimizes scan sequences to enable quantitative in vivo MRI.
- Analyzes data and report progress at weekly research group meetings.
- Prepares presentations for SPR, WMIC, AAIC, ISMRM, RSNA or other scientific meetings.
- Prepares manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
- Provides support for fundraising efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering, medical physics, or related fields, with proficiency in preclinical MRI, image data processing and analysis.
- Experience in handling and working with rodents is preferrable.
