Job Description

Summary

The Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine, Section of Immunology, Allergy and Rheumatology at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant I to join our team. This position will coordinate the day-to-day operations of Dr. David B. Corry's research projects. The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, able to multitask, and work in a quick pace environment. Performs responsible research work that requires planning, completing, and occasionally supervising limited research projects in accordance with general plans approved by the supervisor.

Job Duties

  • Handle and culture of mouse brain, human brain tissue, and other tissues.
  • Collect documents and interpret results of experiments and report results to Dr. Corry.
  • Document the receipt of ordered items and maintain a proper inventory of supplies.
  • Select and determine appropriate research procedures.
  • Oversee the maintenance of lab equipment and environment.
  • Proficiency with a number of experimental protocols including molecular, immunologic, and histopathologic methods, will also be required, but will be taught.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
