In collaboration with the leader, The Director, Events Experience is responsible for driving strategy and leading the execution team for a defined set of City of Hope audience facing events, targeting the City of Hope donors, prospects and philanthropy industries and delivered as physical, virtual or hybrid experiences. The Director will advise and strategize in developing event strategies, which drives a communication continuum of connected experiences that meet business goals. This person will identify, strategize and shape the future of on campus and high touch events to meet a high-level donor experience. The Director will be versed in multi-media platforms, creative experiential concepts, project coordination and technical event production. These events take place on the Duarte Campus, the OC Campus, in the surrounding Los Angeles area and nationally across geographical regions and across the City of Hope network. The Director works directly with philanthropy, multiple key stakeholders, supporters and leadership to define and execute the overall interactive audience experience. This role will also work closely with Marketing and Communications, external vendors, multi-media teams, Visitor Services, the Speaker Bureau Program, faculty, executives, board members, donors, other institutions to ensure each event raises City of Hope’s brand, messaging, and program content to ensure audience engagement.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Serve as a leader on the Event Experience team supporting the Office of Philanthropy strategic planning, budget oversight, branding and décor for a portfolio of fundraising, stewardship and cultivation events
  • Serve as the direct lead for event design and production in the Office of Philanthropy. This includes defining the outcome for each event and designing and implementing the events.
  • Consult with key stakeholders across the Office of Philanthropy to design and deliver high quality programs/events that ensure the effective use of resources (human and financial) and a successful guest experience. Prepare, manage, and monitor event budgets, anticipating costs of production, technical and promotional needs. Clarify funding source for events.
  • Provide leadership and direction in execution of the details of event production, food and beverage management and audio visual elements with emphasis on high standards, guest/donor experience, attention to detail, protocol, and etiquette. Ensure the appropriate tone, schedules and appearance of all events-related invitations, programs and correspondence.
  • Expert on event protocol (i.e. event format, image projection, etiquette to be observed, guest experience)

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 years in event planning
  • 1 year of experience in a leadership capacity Microsoft NT, Word, Microsoft Project, Network.
    Event, Meeting and Hospitality, Protocol, diplomacy and Etiquette, Stakeholder and Audience Engagement, Speakers Bureau, Live and Virtual Events production and marketing.
    Documentation Software, Asana, Virtual platforms, Zoom, MS teams, Webex.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $50.24 - $83.91 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
