Job Description
Job DescriptionMarshall University is seeking a Research Analyst/Grant Writer to support the transformative Marshall for All project—a bold initiative providing students with a debt-free pathway to bachelor’s degrees and career readiness. This position will play a pivotal role in evaluating the program’s impact, analyzing student success metrics, and securing additional funding to ensure long-term sustainability.
The role is fully grant-funded for the first four years, with a gradual decrease in grant support in subsequent years. As the funding reduces, it will be the responsibility of the successful candidate to acquire additional external funds to sustain the position, ensuring its continuation beyond the seven-year grant period.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic professional passionate about data-driven evaluation, funding acquisition, and advancing equity in higher education.
Key Responsibilities
Research & Evaluation:
Collect, analyze, and report on qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate program effectiveness (e.g., retention, graduation rates, job placements, and post-graduation salaries).
Develop and execute advanced methodologies, including Difference-in-Differences (DiD), Propensity Score Matching (PSM), and longitudinal analyses.
Grant Writing:
Proactively research, develop, and submit competitive grant proposals to secure additional funding.
Produce compelling grant reports, policy briefs, and presentations for funders and institutional leadership.
Develop and execute strategies to acquire external funds that will sustain this position beyond the grant period.
Budget Management & Collaboration:
Work closely with the Marshall University Research Corporation to manage budgets, expenditures, and financial reporting for grants under Academic Affairs and the President’s Office.
Partner with the Marshall University Foundation to align funding strategies and ensure financial stewardship for the Marshall for All project.
Monitor grant spending to ensure compliance with funding guidelines and timelines.
Data Infrastructure Development:
Build tools for tracking program success and benchmarking outcomes against peer institutions and national trends.
Ensure data accuracy, transparency, and usability for decision-making.
