City of Hope’s growing national system includes its Los Angeles campus, a network of clinical care locations across Southern California, a new cancer center in Orange County, California, and cancer treatment centers and outpatient facilities in the Atlanta, Chicago and Phoenix areas.
The successful candidate:
Marketing Strategy:
Establish the strategic direction for Marketing and Communications, ensuring the implementation and execution of programs consistent with the vision and goals of City of Hope Atlanta.
Develop and establish service-oriented, client-based processes that are cost-effective and ensure timely and efficient programs.
Plan, manage, create, and produce strategic brand assets to increase awareness of City of Hope Atlanta for patients and consumers.
Public Affairs:
Oversee all external communications related to the City of Hope Atlanta Cancer Center, including executive speeches, media outreach, white papers, Op-eds, and other communications in partnership with the System Communications team.
Drive regional and local recognition in earned media for strategic clinical programs with accompanying clinical marketing and advertising to achieve or exceed growth goals in new patient volume and overall patient volumes in partnership with the system Brand and Creative Service team.
Engage in strategic conversations and build relationships with key external constituents across a broad spectrum of healthcare-related interest areas.
Work with appropriate members of the organization to develop and implement special or crisis communication plans as needed.
Serve as spokesperson for the City of Hope Atlanta organization as needed.
Brand Management:
Implement system brand strategy, brand architecture, and guidelines specific to City of Hope Atlanta Cancer Center, including messaging, graphic, and copywriting standards, ensuring all marketing produced internally or externally adheres to brand standards.
Drive regional and local recognition and knowledge of the brand, measured by reputational gains and consumer surveys.
Develop policies related to brand alignment with corporations or other organizations for marketing purposes.
Oversee the local adaptation of system creative approach, engage with external agencies as needed, and avoid duplication of costs across the system.
Digital Marketing:
Manage the cityofhope.org/Atlanta section of cityofhope.org; develop a strategic electronic communications plan to ensure the Atlanta section of the website and all other forms of electronic communication are optimized as marketing and communications tools.
Measurably increase social media participation from constituents.
Develop mobile applications and strategies for engaging referring physicians.
Personnel Management:
Attract, retain, and develop quality professional and staff members, providing leadership to further develop the department vision.
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum Experience: Ten (10) years relevant experience in marketing, communications, and government relations, including five years in the healthcare arena and preferably at an academic medical center
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in marketing, public affairs, communications, or related field
Preferred Experience: Recognized leader with deep experience in healthcare marketing and communications arena preferred
Proven experience in marketing and communications, preferably in a healthcare or nonprofit setting
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent communication and public speaking abilities
Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders

City of Hope employees pay is based on the following criteria: work experience, qualifications, and work location.
This position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus.
Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $83.24 - $145.83 / hour
The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
