Job Description
Summary
The Research Technician will support all aspects of research in the Woodfield Laboratory. This position is solely based in the lab and will be a full-time research position. The technician will work closely with all members of the lab in this team research environment.
Job Duties
- Performs lab maintenance that includesordering supplies and reagents, autoclaving materials, and lab inventory.
- Works on maintenance of all mice work thatincludeschanging cages, giving drugs, and documentation of surgical procedures.
- Takes care of cells in an aseptic tissue culture environment thatincludesgrowing cells, treating them with drugs, measuring their response to drugs, and harvesting them for DNA, RNA, and protein.
- Participates in DNA, RNA, and protein isolation from tissue and cell specimens.
- Supports submission of abstracts, grants, and manuscripts.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS in Cell Biology or related field in the life sciences.
- Has prior working knowledge with laboratory assays and applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are desirable.
- Being detail oriented, with a knack for time and resource management and multitasking, is critical for the success of this position.
