Job Description

Summary

The Research Technician will support all aspects of research in the Woodfield Laboratory. This position is solely based in the lab and will be a full-time research position. The technician will work closely with all members of the lab in this team research environment.

Job Duties

  • Performs lab maintenance that includesordering supplies and reagents, autoclaving materials, and lab inventory.
  • Works on maintenance of all mice work thatincludeschanging cages, giving drugs, and documentation of surgical procedures.
  • Takes care of cells in an aseptic tissue culture environment thatincludesgrowing cells, treating them with drugs, measuring their response to drugs, and harvesting them for DNA, RNA, and protein.
  • Participates in DNA, RNA, and protein isolation from tissue and cell specimens.
  • Supports submission of abstracts, grants, and manuscripts.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Cell Biology or related field in the life sciences.
  • Has prior working knowledge with laboratory assays and applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are desirable.
  • Being detail oriented, with a knack for time and resource management and multitasking, is critical for the success of this position.
