Job Description

Summary

The Department of Orthopedic Surgery is seeking a Scheduling Specialist II. The candidate will be responsible for creating a positive patient experience by accurately and efficiently scheduling new and follow-up patient appointments.

Job Duties

  • Schedules, coordinates, and reschedules patient appointments.
  • Verifies order/referral is complete and matches scheduled procedure.
  • Completes and accurately enters patient demographic information into Epic.
  • Verifies insurance information of new and returning patients.
  • Answers the telephone and routes patient calls.
  • Maintains and updates current information on physician's schedules ensuring that patients are scheduled properly and appointments are confirmed.
  • Reviews incoming department scheduling faxes.
  • Works the ready to schedule work queue for all internal and/or external referrals.
  • Calls patients for appointments reminders.
  • Verifies insurance and pre-certification of insurance benefits.
  • Handles Epic In basket requests (through MyChart or from clinic staff).

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
