We are seeking a Technical Business Development Specialist to join the NFE team and support the Intellectual Property (IP) Operations team. The NFE team is responsible for managing and executing Sandia’s Strategic Partnership Projects (SPP) agreements and the IP operations team is responsible for managing Sandia’s IP portfolio and executing license agreements. Our department enables impactful partnerships to deploy Sandia's capabilities and IP to industry, universities, and state and federal agencies. On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Prepare NFE agreement documents and route them through the appropriate approvals
- Work with the partner, technical staff, and business support staff to develop statement of work
- Work with finance to develop pay plan and invoices
- Maintain the NFE information and documentation in Sandia’s agreements system
- Establish and maintain key customer relationships
- Execute and manage IP agreements that deploy Sandia technologies
- Carry out internal assessments on daily operations and recommending process improvements/solutions
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$70,200 - $157,500
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with legal agreement documents and finance
- Able to acquire and maintain a DOE L security clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
- Master’s degree and at least one year of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience
- Experience in contracts management
- Demonstrated ability to proactively develop innovative processes and solutions
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Experience with customer relationship management
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic cross-discipline team environment
- Self-motivated with demonstrated attention to detail
- Ability to work in a data intensive environment
About Our Team:
The Technology Partnerships Agreements, Licensing, and Intellectual Property (IP) Department 1982 is responsible for negotiating and executing CRADA, NFE and Licensing agreements, and managing and deploying Sandia's IP portfolio.
Posting Duration:

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Position Information:
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
