Job Description
Job PurposeThe Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Tennessee Tech University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering. This is a full-time, nine-month position to begin August 1, 2025.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, developing new courses in their area of expertise, developing an externally funded research program, and providing service to the department, college, university, and profession. Teaching of related courses in the curriculum may also be required depending upon the candidate’s area of expertise and the needs of the department. Participation in the senior design course is expected.

Essential Functions
Candidates with expertise in either or a combination of the following areas are sought:
· Climate change impacts on water resources and related infrastructure
· Air quality and pollution control
· Water quality and/or environmental process modeling; fate and transport modeling
· Groundwater engineering
· Environmental informatics (machine learning, big data, digital twins, geospatial modeling, smart systems and sensors, intelligent engineering, and cyber-physical systems in environmental engineering)

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a BS in an engineering field; Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering field by the start date of employment; potential for interdisciplinary research activities; potential to develop and maintain an externally-funded research program leading to national recognition; potential for excellence in teaching and scholarly activities; potential to teach core water resources and/or environmental engineering courses and develop new courses related to area of expertise; have a demonstrated record of peer-reviewed scholarship; and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include a B.S. in Civil Engineering or closely related field; Professional Engineer (PE) licensure; industry experience; a track record of excellence in teaching; evidence of grantsmanship, research, and scholarly activities; and evidence of professional and scholarly services.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2025.
