Job Description

Summary

The primary purpose of this Laboratory Assistant position is to carry out various supervised activities in the laboratory of Dr. Yingbin Fu.  The ideal candidate will have a zest for a career in the research.  The lab studies retinal biology and the position will provide exposure in this and related fields. This position is an outstanding opportunity for career development for high school and/or college students or recent science graduates interested in biomedical research and/or future advanced degree training in the biomedical sciences or medicine.

Job Duties

  • Provides assistance to lab personnel as needed in support of ongoing research.
  • Ensures that all lab equipment is calibrated and maintained.
  • Ensures that all lab instruments are sterilized properly.
  • Ensures proper inventory of lab supplies and schedules routine and as needed maintenance appointments.
  • Documents results of experiments and report to principal investigator and during lab meetings.
  • Oversees the maintenance of lab equipment, ordering, and the general lab environment.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Six months of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Be more proficient with the lab environment and techniques related to specific ophthalmic research.
