Senior Institutional Giving Officer

Position Highlights:

The Senior Institutional Giving Officer reports to the Director of Institutional and Membership Giving to execute the strategy to increase revenues from independent and corporate grant making foundations, and other institutional sources to support the full range of research priorities at Moffitt. The role is a frontline fundraising position, whose primary focus is securing support for agreed institutional priorities including health equity programs. The holder of this position will be an experienced foundations fundraiser, with extensive knowledge of the grant making sector. They will be ambitious, entrepreneurial, self-motivated individual, accountable for increasing fundraising goals and meeting performance metrics. This position will contribute to the strategic fundraising activities and is critical to achieving increased financial goals in as detailed in the foundation's 10-year revenue model.

 

Select Responsibilities:

  • Developing and deepening a portfolio of grant making foundations which support medical research and community health programs.  To include but not limited to: Foster a viable, well-researched prospect list, with corresponding gift opportunities. Develop a pipeline and road map of solicitations to support ambitious goals.
  • Fundraising Progress: Think creatively and strategically about funding opportunities among large corporate and independent foundations and match to Moffitt’s funding needs. Secure meetings/discussions with key personnel at potential funding organizations and make effective/persuasive presentation and grant applications.
  • Supporting Moffitt’s George Edgecomb Society: Presenting fundraising and relevant program updates at quarterly meetings and following up with donor prospects identified by committee members. Coordinate with Moffitt Foundation donor communications team on tri-annual newsletters and Moffitt Health Equity Partners annual report.
  • Building and sustaining relationships: Ensure grant makers are kept apprised of spending and progress through formal and informal project reporting. Seek opportunities to connect new grant making institutions with Moffitt.
  • Support the Director of Institutional and Membership Giving efforts to coordinate with Moffitt research administration. To include: Ensure research administration processes are followed for foundation grants, serve as the liaison between research administration and foundations and coordinate required reporting/stewarding activities.   

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree within relevant field.
  • At least five (5) years of successful, verifiable experience in front line fundraising, specifically in Foundation and Corporate Foundation sectors.
  • Track record of writing grants for 6+ figure awards
  • Experience in large organizations within Healthcare or Higher Education sectors
  • Experience partnering with Office of Sponsored Research and research administration.
  • Accountability for meeting financial goals
  • Excellent verbal and written commination skills.
  • The sophistication to work with Senior Executives, Board members and other VIPs on occasion.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, and the ability to effectively self-manage progress to financial goals.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with team members to deliver maximum effective performance and results.

Preferred:

  • Experience raising funds for medical research/community health projects.
  • Relationships with established grant making foundations.
  • Experience with and knowledge of health equity fundraising sector.
