The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry is accepting applications for a faculty position as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology, Department of Diagnostic and Preventive Sciences. It will be a non-tenure track, 4-day per week appointment. Under the supervision of the Division Head of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology, and working directly with Oral Diagnosis faculty, the Clinical Assistant Professor will be mainly responsible for the clinical instruction in the Oral Diagnosis Clinic which involves patient assessment as part of Oral Diagnosis work-ups and also evaluation of clinical skills of pre-doctoral students and dental hygiene students for clinical procedures. Other responsibilities include some assigned didactic teaching, student advisement and mentoring, committee assignments, service activities, and professional development. 

Responsibilities and expectations include:

  • Commitment to excellence in teaching didactic and clinical courses
  • Fulfill department and College responsibilities as directed by the Division Head, Department Chair, and/or Dean and abide by College and department policies and philosophies
  • Uphold expected standards of professionalism, quality, and ethics, and in so doing, serve as a role model for students and faculty
  • Must have good fundamental knowledge and eperiences in all aspects of comprehensive dentistry
  • Ability to interpret clinical findings and distill them into a viable, biologically sound, evidence-driven treatment plan
  • Responsible for clinical supervision and training of pre-doctoral dental students during patient work ups for all types of patients
  • Supervise, assist, teach, and mentor students in oral diagnosis, treatment planning, and care of all phases of general dentistry
  • Monitor student performance on a periodic basis and provide feedback to students in a reasonable amount of time
  • Share information about students' needs, attendance, and achievements with the Division Head and other faculty members
  • Serve as a role model and mentor for students, providing feedback on individual performance and resources for improvement as appropriate
  • Utilize evidence-based/scientifically-founded information and techniques while fulfilling assigned teaching and clinical supervision duties
  • Maintain intellectual integrity and strive for academic excellence
  • Attend regularly scheduled department/faculty calibration meetings
  • Participate in trainings, orientations, and college-required activities
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities in an academic environment
  • Display excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Participate in relevant professional development activities and maintain continuing education as needed for licensure
  • Serve on appropriate College and University committees as assigned
  • Ability to relate and interact in an effective and positive manner with individuals of diverse backgrounds
  • Maintain calibration with College of Dentistry's clinical and administrative protocols and procedures
  • Perform other duties delegated by the Division Head of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology, Chair of Diagnostic and Preventive Sciences, or Dean, and maintain confidentiality
  • Support and assist with the mission of the College of Dentistry and Division missino and initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must possess a dental degree (DDS, DMD, or equivalent)
  • Licensed to practice in the State of Oklahoma or be qualified to obtain licensure in Oklahoma
  • Possess knowledge of current concepts in general dentistry and clinical practice.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of clinical practice experience
  • Experience with oral medicine practice and/or TMD
