Responsibilities
The Dawson Lab at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is recruiting a Research Technician to provide research support for several ongoing projects in the lab.

Responsibilities will include being the main person driving a project exploring the role of the MPS1 kinase in mammalian cell proliferation with guidance from Dr. Dawson. The project will involve molecular cloning, DNA/RNA and protein purification, mammalian cell culture, genomics techniques, CRISPR genome editing, and bio-informatics. Other activities will involve media and reagent preparation for the laboratory, maintaining lab databases and ordering supplies. We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented person who is willing to learn a variety of techniques, The candidate will receive ample training and instruction but will be expected to work independently quickly on routine techniques. This will be a great learning opportunity for individuals interested in understanding how techniques are applied in a Molecular Biology lab and who may eventually be interested in graduate school. The person you will replace leaves the lab to start graduate school in the Fall.

Qualifications
Candidates are required to have Bachelor’s degree, typically in one of the biological sciences and/or equivalent years of relevant laboratory experience. Should be familiar with lab techniques such as making solutions, pipetting, cell culture, and basic molecular biology techniques. The candidate must be capable of treating other lab members with respect at all times.A candidate should have ease with preparing solutions and determining concentrations and be familiar with lab techniques. Good communication and problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn are essential. Must be willing and able to work independently once trained.Basic knowledge of Internet software and Microsoft Office software.Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and protocols/procedures. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to compute basic mathematical operations, i.e., ratio, percent, molarity, and unit conversion. Ability to organize and perform precise and accurate work when dealing with samples and chemicals.Ability to effectively present ideas and data analysis to the supervisor, who will decide how to proceed. Suggest changes to experiments and procedures—the ability to exchange ideas and procedures with co-workers and other labs.
