Job Description

Job Description:
Two Postdoctoral Researcher positions are available in the Qian lab (http://uncliqian.web.unc.edu/) at the McAllister Heart Institute of UNC School of Medicine. Qian Lab is interested in developing innovative approaches to regenerate or repair an injured adult heart. We aim to understand the molecular basis of cardiomyocyte specification, maturation, and homeostasis and apply this knowledge to refine some of the current therapeutic approaches to heart disease. To achieve these goals, we utilize in vivo modeling of cardiac disease in the mouse and take advantage of traditional mouse genetics, single-cell omics, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, and reprogramming technologies to investigate the fundamental events underlying the progression of various cardiovascular diseases as well as to discover the basic mechanisms of cell reprogramming. Qian's lab is highly productive, published in prestigious journals, and well-recognized internationally. Previous and current trainees from the lab received excellent training, received awards and honors, and transitioned to their independent stages. The applicant must be passionate about science and have a strong track record, including first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals in graduate school. Applicants must be able to work closely with other researchers in a collaborative and supportive research environment. Interested applicants should provide a formal application letter with statements of research interests, Curriculum Vitae, and a list of names and contact information of at least three referees.

Requirements:
PhD in Developmental Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a discipline related to the area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
