Job Description

Summary

The Postdoctoral Associate will perform routine elements of research work for funded research projects. Research activities will include molecular microbiology, tissue culture and experiments, RNA-seq, molecular cloning techniques, flow cytometry, and animal studies in mice. The Postdoctoral Associate will be required to use skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established protocols and record results of the work performed. Additionally, the Postdoctoral Associate will be encouraged to develop independent projects.

Job Duties

  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
  • Conducts laboratory procedures: Molecular microbiology, tissue culture experiments, flow cytometry, and mouse procedures.
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents methods and results of experiments to ensure that work can be replicated by others.
  • Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.
  • Writes manuscripts to report the findings.
  • Attends department seminar and other scientific events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in microbiology, cell culture, molecular biology, flow cytometry, and animal models of infectious disease are strongly encouraged to apply.
