Job Description
Summary
The Foulds laboratory is a dedicated translational oncology research program, rich with individual expertise and collaborative studies, which focuses on generating new and optimizing current treatment strategies for patients across the breast cancer spectrum. In order to develop precision diagnostics, the lab is interested in delineating mechanisms of resistance to standard-of-care therapeutics and metastasis for each breast tumor subtype. The successful applicant is expected to develop and carry out independent research projects, supervise technicians, and work in collaboration with the bioinformatics and functional genomics team in the lab. Selected skill sets that includes chromatin immunoprecipitation-RNA sequencing, immunoblot, ex vivo culture, and immunoblot analyses, is desirable. The laboratory’s work involves cell lines and state-of-the-art mouse models. Cross-training and transparency among the team is encouraged and practiced.
Job Duties
- Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
- Collects, compiles and analyzes data.
- Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
- Documents results of experiments.
- Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.
- Prepares figures and assists in writing related to experiments performed.
- Maintains general lab environment that includes but not limited to, equipment maintenance and repairs, organization, and cleanliness of the lab.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience with animal husbandry.
- Experiences in tissue culture and basic molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, DNA purification, Western blot, … etc).
- Has knowledge about molecular biology and cancer biology.
- Be a team-player and work well within a group.
