Job Description

Summary

We are seeking a motivated and organized Research Technician II to join a highly collaborative team. The duties include assisting the team by managing the mouse colony and cell culture colonies. Will also maintain records.  May assist with certain data analysis if necessary. Must be able to communicate effectively as this position requires interpersonal skills necessary to coordinate team-based research studies; needs to take personal responsibility and accountability for correcting any problems.

Job Duties

  • Maintain, genotype, and characterize mouse colonies we use for studies of Alzheimer's disease.
  • Maintain and propagate cell cultures of stem cells and microglia from the models we use to study Alzheimer's disease.
  • Keep records of both mice and cell cultures.
  • Prepare all solutions (like media, growth factors etc.) needed to accomplish the above work.
  • Prepare samples for experiments, such as brain tissue, extracts, RNA samples, samples for metabolome studies etc.
  • Keep notebook with all protocols used.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with mouse models.
  • Experience working in a lab setting.
