Position Summary

The labs of Drs. Pichiorri and Krishnan in the Department of hematopoietic malignancies translational science and Briskin Myeloma center are looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow. This candidate directs the work of a laboratory or undertakes research projects in collaboration with academic supervisor, making innovative contributions pertaining to laboratory procedures which may not change the course of an investigation but do indicate significant independent contribution. This candidate will consult with the academic supervisor on the scope and plan of approach to a research project; reads abstracts and articles; organize and plan techniques; plan and assign the work of at least one lab staff advising on problems they are unable to solve; contribute original ideas to the laboratory research; standardize new techniques and experimental methodologies; write manuscripts and helps the PI with grant writing.

Specifically for this position experience in medical immunology and in bioinformatics is preferred. The post-doc will support the development of a novel antibody that will work as check point inhibitor in multiple myeloma and leukemia. The post-doc will also support a variety of routine and non-routine laboratory research experiments as well as records and validates results for accuracy and completeness.

Specific experience includes:

· Experienced with sample preparation (A to Z), familiar with MACS Quant instrument and data analysis with FlowJo software.

· Multi-parametric flow analysis

· Cloning experience including CRISPER

· Cell culturing and primary sample preparation

· Experienced with primer design of genes, RNA extraction from tissues and cell lines with Trizol and kits, cDNA synthesis, electrophoresis, Real-time PCR (Corbett, RG-6000)

· Animal handling

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

· PhD or M.D.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $31.00 - $34.23 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
