Job Description
Summary
Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant will provide direct patient care in one of eight Baylor Teen Health Clinic locations. The candidate will perform routine patient care responsibilities such as taking vital signs, venipuncture (blood draws), collect specimens, and laboratory Point of Care Testing. Collects patient history, performs medication reconciliation and enters information in the medical record. Maintains patient and service rooms in a neat and orderly condition.
Job Duties
- Performs venipuncture and prepares lab specimens
- Administers vaccines.
- Collects patient history.
- Performs medication reconciliation and enters information in the medical record.
- Maintains patient and service rooms in a neat and orderly condition.
- Enters additional information into other databases, such as HIV and STI results.
- Assists APP/MD with clinical procedures.
- Prepares and packages lab specimens for pick up.
- Coordinates and participates in Sports Physical and Immunization "Events" that may occur in one of our clinics or at a local College or High School campus.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
- Two years of relevant experience.
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NAHP, NHA, NAHP, or AMCA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering Immunizations and drawing blood for lab tests.
- Experience working with teens and young adults.
