Job Description

Position Summary
The Department of Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering at Michigan State University, in collaboration with Motion Grazer AI (https://motiongrazer.com/), is seeking a Postdoctoral research associate whose work focuses on precision/smart livestock farming. The selected candidate will leverage state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) and 3D imaging technologies for real-time monitoring and health detection of sows (adult female pigs). The successful candidate will be expected to meet with Dr. Yuzhen Lu and collaborators to review progress and discuss best practice in experiments, algorithm developments and testing, manuscript preparation, mentoring, and grant writing.

Required Degree
Doctorate

Minimum Requirements
The candidate must have formal training experiences in image acquisition and processing, computer vision and deep learning analytics. It is essential that the candidate has excellent speaking and writing skills and the ability and desire to work in an interdisciplinary research team. The candidate must also establish and conduct a research program resulting in high-quality publications.

Applicants are required to have an earned Ph.D. degree in one of the following disciplines: Biosystems/Agricultural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field.

Desired Qualifications
The preferred candidate is expected to have research backgrounds demonstrated via holding relevant degrees and/or completing significant research in AI and 3D computer vision for animal detection, tracking, and health assessment.
