Position Summary

A key member of the Treasury team reporting to the Vice President, Treasury & Financial Strategy, the Treasury Analyst participates in all treasury activities with an emphasis on the management of City of Hope’s debt portfolio, quantitative analysis and assisting in daily treasury operations, including cash management and investments. The Treasury Analyst participates in bond financing transactions and is responsible for all aspects of post-issuance debt administration and compliance, including but not limited to monitoring use of tax-exempt bond proceeds, completing compliance certifications, debt covenant calculations, and meeting continuing disclosure requirements. The Treasury Analyst also assists with cash and investment related activities by contributing to the preparation of cash flow forecasts, assessing daily cash position, monitoring and reporting on investment performance of charitable remainder trust program and supporting other investment-related functions, as needed. The Treasury Analyst collaborates with other members of the Treasury department to develop and improve processes consistent with the mission and values of the City of Hope.

Key Responsibilities include:

Debt Program

  • Develop complex analyses to evaluate debt financing strategies. As a member of bond financings team, participate in preparation of official statement and other disclosure documents, coordinate due diligence, develop materials for rating agencies and investors, and manage bond closing logistics. Conduct quantitative analysis and oversee complex financial models to inform management on debt portfolio, including forecasting projected debt uses and evaluating City of Hope’s debt capacity.
  • Provide support and analysis regarding all of City of Hope’s corporate borrowings, including coordinating payments for principal, interest and swap settlements and collateral postings.
  • Prepare Bond draw certificates by working with VP, Treasury & Financial Strategy, Controller, Fixed Asset Accountants, and bond trustee
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial covenant calculations and other covenant reports and certifications as required by Master Trust Indenture, Loan Agreements, Continuing Disclosure Certificates and other bond-related documents, including but not limited to swap and line of credit agreements. Stay abreast of public disclosure requirements. Coordinate quarterly disclosure requirements and website postings and ensure timely disclosure of information as part of ongoing investor relations program
  • Prepare reports and presentation materials for senior management, Board, rating agencies, and other external parties.
  • Assist with and provide support for monthly and quarterly financial statement preparation, City of Hope annual financial audits and IRS audits as needed
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive debt management operations manual, including debt covenant compliance checklist, reporting obligations timetable, and debt program policies (e.g. swap policy, post-issuance compliance policy)
  • Support and participate in City of Hope’s Strategic Planning activities
  • Provide quantitative analysis and financial modeling support for ad-hoc projects as assigned

Cash and Investment Portfolios

  • Cross train in all areas of treasury and provide coverage as needed. Act as primary backup to Cash Analyst including daily cash and cash flow management, analysis of bank and investing activities; reconciling daily cash position to the daily bank statement; maintaining lockbox activity and records
  • Contribute to the preparation of cash flow forecast and develop financial modeling and analytics to enhance functionality.
  • Work in collaboration with the VP, Treasury & Financial Strategy and the Investment Manager to assist with investment management activities and projects, as needed.
  • Prepare treasury reporting package, including reports on debt program, cash and operating reserves, long-term investment portfolios and credit rating analysis. Monitor and report on operating cash and short-term investment performance, including “Days Cash on Hand” analysis.
  • Analyze performance of charitable remainder trust investments. On at least an annual basis, report investment results for charitable remainder trust program and provide investment recommendations to Planned Giving department.
  • Provide financial support or work on additional ad-hoc projects as assigned by VP, Treasury & Financial Strategy

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years of treasury experience in a corporate environment
  • Advanced Finance coursework

Preferred Certification/Licensure:

  • CFA

Preferred education experience and skills:

  • Healthcare Treasury experience

Pay Rate: $37.00 - $57.35 / hour
