Position Summary
This position is responsible for routine clerical processes required to produce timely and accurate payrolls for COH and subsidiary companies.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Maintains accurate payroll records.
- Reviews and prepares time and monetary input for leaves of absences.
- Updates computer system with payroll information for new hires and changes (tax filing status, deductions, etc).
- Verifies that employee information entered into the computer system by Human Resources is accurate; i.e. rate of pay, social security number, tax status, exemptions, etc.
- Calculates retroactive rate increases and prepares input forms.
- Provides timely and accurate data entry of changes and adjustments.
- Prepares semi-monthly payroll balancing controls.
- Provides assistance to employees with payroll questions and/or problems.
- Provides assistance to maintain API T&A system.
- Inputs data and maintains API’s Grant Tracking feature.
- Audits API reports and advises departments of possible errors.
- Distributes Payroll reports.
- Calculates termination and correction checks. Forwards calculations to another Payroll staff member for verification. Prints and distributes checks.
- Calculates integration of SDI benefits and inputs into API.
- Balance both payroll processing requirements and complete work in a timely manner. Ability to effectively communicate if/when deadlines may not be met.
- Maintains professional attitude when working with other COH employees.
Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
- Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements
- Two years accounting experience including one-year minimum payroll experience
- Completed courses in Principles of Accounting, Business Mathematics, Payroll Procedures. Data Processing experience.
Preferred education experience and skills:
- Concentration/attention to detail required when verifying payroll computations
