Position open for an Immunology Research Assistant at Harvard Medical School to join research on immunological tolerance, in relation with autoimmune disease and cancer. The Research Assistant will join an exciting and collaborative team analyzing immune cell differentiation, and how immune cells interact with the microbiome. This research involves several cutting-edge tools in immunology (advanced flow cytometry, tissue culture, monoclonal antibodies, cytokine assays, bacterial analysis). Our projects involve close collaborations with clinicians, for the analysis of patient immune cells in cancer and autoimmune diseases and with microbiologists. Will partake in some multi-center projects to which the lab is connected, such as the ImmGen. Will participate in lab meetings, publications, and generally in the lab’s operation and management of equipment and supplies. We are looking for a team player, with strong organizational and multitasking abilities, and ideally a few years’ experience in Immunology research. The Research Assistant will work effectively within a culture inclusive of individuals with diverse backgrounds, styles, abilities, and motivations, and appreciate and leverage the capabilities, insights, and ideas of all individuals.
College background or equivalent work experience, and familiarity with standard computer usage. At least one year related work experience in Immunology or molecular biology (relevant laboratory coursework may count towards experience).
Additional Qualifications and Skills
BA/BS degree preferred. Experience in microbiology would be a plus, as would experience in computer sciences (computational biology).
This is a two-year term position with possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding for the position.
