Job Description

Job Purpose

Performs activities related to research animal care.  Writes and updates standard operating procedures, and conducts quality assurance walkthroughs.  Manages mouse colonies and provides health checks and husbandry services for animals.

Job Duties
  • Performs activities related to research animal care.
  • Writes and updates standard operating procedures.
  • Conducts quality assurance walkthroughs of facilities; provides monthly report to director.
  • Trains new employees on standard operating procedures, colony management, and husbandry standards.
  • Manages mouse colonies and provides health checks and husbandry services for animals.
  • Establishes work schedules and assigns activities for animal care staff.
  • May oversee the quarantine of mice and rats imported into the facility in addition to the re-derivation and sentineling processes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience Required: Four years of relevant experience.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.
